Welcome to the sixth volume of the International Journal of Coaching Psychology (IJCP).  From the publication of the first volume in 2020, the journal has continued to focus on promoting the theory, research and practice of coaching psychology.  We have published original research, thought-provoking papers, and articles about coaching psychology techniques, interventions, strategies.

This includes the articles published in volume 5, which alongside our own Editorial covered a range of aspects contributing to the advancement of the field:

  • Editorial: Playing our Part in the International Development of Coaching Psychology (O’Riordan & Palmer, 2024).
  • Examining the Impact of Life Coaching on Self-Concept and Self-Esteem (Willams-Spooner & Freeman, 2024).
  • Solution-Focused Scaling Questions: Time Taken, Words Written, Expectancy and Commitment (Abdulla, 2024).
  • Increasing Job Satisfaction and Organisational Commitment Through Coaching (Minzlaff et al., 2024)

The IJCP has ratified some important policy changes from 2025 onwards. For example, we will only be taking forward position or opinion papers via an invitation from the editorial board.  Also, we will not accept AI-assisted technologies including Large Language Models (LLMs), chatbots and image creators as co-authors of papers. Due to the high volume of submissions and capacity of the Editorial Team, we would also like to highlight that submissions may now be subject to rejection by the Editor(s), a process referred to as a desk rejection. In such instances, specific reasons for the rejection will not be provided. Details for authors on the submission and review process are available on the journal website (https://ijcp.nationalwellbeingservice.com).

Some recent news from the International Society of Coaching Psychology (ISCP), a professional body sponsor of the IJCP, is an initiative of their Faculty of Climate Change and Coaching Psychology aiming to bring together professionals in the field to explore how coaching psychology can assist with challenges created by climate change. This includes activities such as research and providing CPD activities for practitioners.  Professional psychology bodies from around the world are represented on the Faculty International Advisory Board (https://climatechange.iscpresearch.org)

For each volume we rely on the commitment and time of our expert voluntary editorial team and reviewers.  We would like to acknowledge their support alongside that of each of our professional body and corporate sponsors (https://www.nationalwellbeingservice.org/about/our-sponsors/).
